Managed Accounting and Outsourced CFO Services Practice Lead

We are excited to be actively seeking a Managed Accounting Services and Outsourced CFO Practice Lead.  The Practice Lead provides leadership for the service line, and is accountable for high quality client service and deliverables, winning new work, and developing a high performing team.

While the Practice Lead will have heavy involvement with the firm’s clients and relationships, much of the daily role is an internal function providing oversight, mentoring and quality control for the service team. The Practice Lead is responsible for ensuring the profitability of all client engagements, for recruiting, managing and retaining top-performing staff, and for reporting to the firm’s Partner in Charge of Managed Accounting and Outsourced CFO services line, while being supported by the Chief Operations Officer, the Chief Marketing Officer, the Chief Human Resources Officer, and the firm’s Business Operations Manager. 

As a recognized member of firm leadership, you will be relied upon to combine your outstanding relationship and team building skills to grow and promote this service area, while setting challenging personal and client service team goals.  You will have a forward-thinking vision and embrace the firm’s philosophy of continuous improvement.

The Practice Lead:

  • Participates in defining the vision and growth strategy for the service line consistent with the firm’s Strategic Plan, Mission, and Values.  
  • Ensures that engagements are performed to the highest quality standards and completed in accordance with the firm’s quality control standards.  
  • Will assist in developing a full suite of outsourced services offered to current and new clients including, but not limited to: new client set up, transition of current clients, transactional accounting services, general accounting services, and controllership/outsourced CFO services.
  • Is responsible for marketing/business development efforts and results in coordination with relevant industry teams.
  • Will act as an engagement lead performing hands-on tasks during engagements. 
  • Will have a strong understanding of a fixed fee (all in) and tiered pricing models (bronze, silver, gold).
  • Will have experience transforming an existing team and client base from after the fact payroll services, to a fully outsourced model.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as accounting, or business. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Licensed CPA.
  • Seven to nine years of experience in private/public accounting, some of which should be operating in a function similar to a chief financial officer. Ideally, currently in a role providing client facing CFO-type services as an outsourced service provider.  
  • A proven track record of simultaneously managing multiple projects and engagement teams.
  • A strong understanding and practical use of accounting and financial based-technology and technology platforms, including QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Xero, Intacct, expense management, and industry specific applications.
